Soprano Dana Schnitzer is a sought-after performer of opera, oratorio and art song.  She is thrilled to be making her debut with the Connecticut Lyric Opera in one of her favorite roles!  Most recently she performed the role of Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni with MetroWest Opera, the role of Rosalinda in Die Fledermaus with Riverside Theatre Works, understudied the role of Leonore in Fidelio with Opera Boston, and performed as a witch in Macbeth with Boston Lyric Opera.  Prior to that, she sang Fiordiligi in Cosi fan tutte with Commonwealth Opera, and sang Giannetta in L’elisir d’amore at the Caramoor Music Festival alongside renowned Metropolitan Opera tenor Lawrence Brownlee.  She has sung the title roles in Alcina,
The Merry Widow
, and Suor Angelica, as well as Juliette in Romeo et JulietteNoemie in Cendrillon and First
Lady
inThe Magic Flute.

Recent highlights of Ms. Schnitzer’s solo concert career have included the Vaughan Williams Sea Symphony, Brahms Requiem, and Bach B Minor Mass with The Metropolitan Chorale of Brookline, and the MendelssohnSt. Paul, Bach Magnificat and Mozart Requiem with the Choral Art Society.  Past solo works include the Mahler RückertliederHandel’s Messiah, Mozart Vespers and Fauré Requiem.  A recent finalist in the Liederkranz Competition, Ms. Schnitzer has placed first in both the NATS Boston Competition and the Arlington
Philharmonic Young Artist Competition
.  She is a past Boston District Winner of the Metropolitan Opera Competition and second place winner of the Peter Elvins Vocal Competition.

In addition to the Caramoor festival (2007, 2009), Ms. Schnitzer has participated in many young artist training programs including PORTopera, the Britten-Pears program in England, and the Brevard Music Center.  Ms. Schnitzer received her BM in Vocal Performance from UMASS Amherst in 2003, and her MM in Vocal Performance from the New England Conservatory in 2005.  She currently studies privately with Penelope Bitzas.
