Connecticut Lyric Opera is pleased to announce our 10th Anniversary – 2012-13 – Season with three full productions at venues in six cities throughout Connecticut.

In honor of our very first production, Bizet’s immortal Carmen, we will begin this auspicious season by repeating this beloved opera of love and betrayal in October/November in New Britain, Middletown, Waterbury and New London.

Continuing a collaboration begun last season with Mystic Ballet, our second production will be Piazolla’s innovative “tango opera,” Maria de Buenos Aires, a joint production with the ballet company the NY Times hails as “top-notch ballet” with March performances in Mystic, New Britain, Middletown and Old Saybrook.

To conclude the season we have chosen to present one of the most popular operas of our first few seasons, one of Mozart’s masterpieces, Don Giovanni, to be performed in May in New Britain, Middletown, Waterbury and New London.

In addition to these fully staged operas with orchestra, we will hold our Third Annual Gala, A Taste of Opera, at the Mystic Arts Center on October 29, as well as presenting a number of student performances of our operas at local schools during their production runs.

Finally, as has been the case since our founding, all operas are co-produced with our resident orchestra, the CT Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra, with our (and the Virtuosi’s) Artistic Director, Adrian Sylveen, conducting.
