ABOUT CLO
Founded in 2003 by a group of professional musicians and
opera-lovers, and based in New London, the mission of Connecticut Lyric
Opera is threefold:
Inspire: To contribute to the
cultural life of SE Connecticut and beyond with
high quality operas, concerts and recitals from
the traditional and contemporary repertoires.
Involve: To encourage the development
of Connecticut-based singers and musicians through
their participation in professional opera productions
and other public performances.
Instill:
To present opera to people of all ages in such
a way as to foster a love and appreciation of
the art form in general and vocal and classical
music in general.
To these ends, CLO now produces three
fully staged and orchestrated opera productions
per season, several scaled down opera productions by Young Artists for student audiences,
present a number of concerts and recitals
throughout the year featuring CLO soloists and
orchestra members, and prepare and present additional educational
programs for children and people of all ages.
Initially these productions and programs will be staged
in New London and New Britain, however, this season will see our first productions in Norwich,
with other communities and venues being considered for future seasons.
