Maksim
Ivanov (Escamillo, Figaro): Baritone Maksim Ivanov is quickly establishing himself in the roles of Marcello and Schaunard in La Boheme, Guglielmo in Cosi fan tutte, Dandini in La Cenerentola, Onegin in Eugene Onegin, Malatesta in Don Pasquale, Count Almaviva in Le Nozze di Figaro, Robert in Tchaikovsky's Iolanta, and Ford in Falstaff. He has performed with such companies as Glimmerglass Opera, the Lyric Opera of Kansas City, Connecticut Grand Opera, Opera Theatre of Connecticut, Opera Providence, Boheme Opera of New Jersey, Sanibel Music Festival, Ash-Lawn Highland Festival, among others. Recent engagements have included Dr. Malatesta in Don Pasquale with the Lyric Opera of Kansas City, Dandini in La Cenerentola with Opera Providence, Marcello in La Boheme with Boheme Opera, Marullo in Rigoletto with the Opera Theater of Connecticut, and Guglielmo in Cosi fan tutte with Salt Marsh Opera. Mr. Ivanov received his BA and MMA from Yale University and is currently a Doctoral candidate at SUNY Stony Brook.
Thom
King (Bartolo ): Bass-baritone
Thom King has sung every low male role in Il Barbiere
di Siviglia during his distinguished career, touring
with Texas Opera Theatre, Miami Opera Theatre,
Connecticut Opera, and performing with many others.
Mr. King has performed
many of the leading baritone roles, including
the title roles in Don Pasquale, Nabucco, Le Nozze
di Figaro and The Mikado, as well as Scarpia (Tosca),
Guglielmo (Cosi fan Tutte), Escamillo (Carmen),
Germont (La Traviata) and Marcello (La Boheme).
Kevin Pruner
(Fiorello): A bass active in both opera and oratorio, Kevin Pruner has performed Alidoro (Cenerentola) with Zwolle Opera (Netherlands), Uberto (La Serva Padrona) in Sacremento and Dandini (Cenerentola) and Figaro with New York Opera Forum. He has performed as bass soloist in Beethoven's Choral Fantasy, Mendelssohn's Te Deum, Bernstein's Chinchester Psalms, among others. Upcoming engagements include Don Alfonso (Cosi fan Tutte), Simon (Judas Maccabeus), Colline (La Boheme) and King Philip (Don Carlo).
Laurentiu
Rotaru (Zuniga, Don Basilio): Bass-baritone Laurentiu Rotaru is a native of Romania currently residing in Hartford and attending Central Connecticut State University, where he is majoring in music performance. His credits with CLO include Zuniga in Carmen and Bartolo in Il Barbiere di Siviglia, and has also performed Il Comandatore in Don Giovanni, as Mr. Jenks in the opera The Tender Land, and as Dr. Grenvil in the La Traviata. He has toured USA and Canada, performing as a soloist of a choir composed of students and graduates of the Theological Institute of Bucharest. He started his intensive music training at The Conservatory of Bucharest - Romania and he performed for one year at The National Opera of Bucharest. He also was a soloist of the "Divine Harmony" choir of Bucharest, touring Romania, Greece, and Italy. He took the Second Prize at The National Association of Teachers of Singing (Connecticut Chapter) competition.
John
Salvi (Morales, Dancairo): Baritone John Salvi most recently performed the role of Peter in Commonwealth Opera's production of Hansel & Gretel. Roles with The Connecticut Opera include Marquis d'Obigny in La Traviata, Wagner in Faust, Frank in Die Fledermaus, Schlémil in Les contes d'Hoffmann, Cappadocian in Salome, and Prince Yamadori in Madama Butterfly. Roles with regional opera companies include Papageno in The Magic Flute, Morales and Dancairo in Carmen, and Tony Menotti's Help, Help The Globolinks! He is a three-time award winner in The Connecticut Opera Guild Vocal Competition and was the 2003 & 2004 Riggio Encouragement Award recipient at the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions in New Haven. He earned his Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance from the University of MA at Amherst and is currently an adjunct voice teacher at the Northfield Mount Hermon School in Northfield, MA.
