Baritone Maksim Ivanov has performed in a number of CLO productions including Carmen, Romeo et Juliette and The Marriage of Figaro, and has also appeared with Glimmerglass Opera, Lyric Opera of Kansas City, Opera Providence, Mississippi opera, Boheme Opera of New Jersey, Opera Theater of Connecticut and Salt Marsh Opera among others.
His repertoire includes over a dozen roles including Marcello and Shaunard in La Boheme, Count Almaviva in The Marriage of Figaro, Figaro in Barber of Seville, Escamillo in Carmen, Ford in Falstaff, Sharpless in Madama Batterfly and Eugene Onegin.
In concert Mr. Ivanov performed at Lincoln Center in New York, Staller Center for the Arts and in Paul Mellon art Center as well as with Wallingford Symphony, Norwalk Symphony, Manhattan Philharmonia Orchestra, Classical Orchestra of Pila, Poland and the Connecticut Virtuosi Orchestra.
For the past six seasons, Mr. Ivanov has been a member of the Extra Chorus of the Metropolitan opera, appearing in over a 100 performances of eight different productions, including the Grammy-winning Gotterdamerung.
He received his Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the State University of New York at Stony Brook, Master of Music degrees from both the Yale University and the Manhattan School of Music and the Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Pennsylvania.
He was a winner in a number of National and International Vocal Competitions including those held by Metropolitan Opera, Chicago Lyric Opera and the Connecticut Opera Guild.
Before beginning his vocal studies, he appeared in several supporting roles in motion pictures from Mosfilm, Belarusfilm and Kiev’s Dovzhenko Studio, which also included the soundtrack of his original songs. Several of his poems appeared in Russia’s literary publications.
