EDUCATION PROGRAMS

Part of Connecticut Lyric Opera's mission is introduce audiences to the wonder that is opera, as well as to provide aspiring performers an opportunity to hone their craft. To these ends, CLO offers the community the following programs:

OPERAtunities
CLO has developed a Musical Education and Outreach Program - OPERAtunities - which is partially funded by the Community Foundation of Southeastern CT as well as other generous local corporations and individuals. The goal, in keeping with the first objective of our mission statement, is to introduce local students to opera and classical music through their attendance and participation in a suitably adapted performance of an opera in such a way as to foster a life-long appreciation of music.

Sound Opera Institute
Sound Opera Institute was created by Connecticut Lyric Opera to provide a summer study program for student and emerging performers, providing an idyllic summer location on Long Island Sound and a potentially large audience with its final performances during SailFest, Southeastern Connecticut’s largest annual event with over 250,000 visitors attracted to the area for music, fun and fireworks.

Young Artist Program
Providing Connecticut based singers a bridge between the academic and professional worlds, CLO's Young Artist Program was created to give talented up-and-coming performers the chance to participate in our main stage productions in supporting or covering roles, as well as being showcased in their own productions, making their training and involvement an integral part of the OPERAtunities program itself.
